The Giving Trees Spring Update
Sage's Hot Take
Its wild that every giant tree comes from such a tiny seed.
While planting trees this spring I am grateful that we only have to dig small holes and the trees do all the growing!
This was our 1st spring as The Giving Trees.
It was fast and furiously beautiful!
We left behind the relaxing acorn cracking parties of winter &
like chipmunks;
scurried about planting trees here, there, and everywhere.
I hope in future years we can learn to operate less frantically,
but nevertheless I am extremely proud.
proud of all the baby trees for making it posible,
proud of the nurseries for sourcing amazing seeds,
proud of all of the microorganisms that hang together to help them grow,
proud of all of you - our community - that has carried us through the
challenges and successes of our first year.
proud of ourselves too :)
We are so proud to share that in our frist Spring
You (collectively) planted more than 370 trees in the Hudson Valley
including at least
150 American-Asian/European blight resistant Chestnut Hybrids
20 American Persimmon
40 Pawpaw
10 Northern Pecan
& 150 Red Oak

The Trees are Growing & You are our Boots on the Ground!
Please let us know about your experience planting. Share your tips, & the ups and downs. Feel free to share pictures of you with your trees too.
If any of the trees we gave out do not show leaves by July, please let us know.
This is useful information for us to plan for future years,
and we will gladly replace the tree with another if we have it, or offer a refund.
Extra Gratitude goes out to -
- Everyone who helps plant trees & builds our community!
It is an amazing group effort, that continues
in gatherings, friend groups, woodland hikes, backyard hangs,
& solo (just hanging with the trees).
- Abad the Brave and his root cellar where we stored the saplings
prior to planting.
- The Kingston Land Trust for helping to plant more than 20 donated trees
on protected land.
- Yellowbud Farm, Sustainable Sorcers, & NYSDEC Saratoga Tree Nursery
for growing amazing saplings for us to plant.
- Aileah at Clove Valley Farm who is an amazing community member
& asked us to sell potted trees at her Spring plant sale & share her table space
at Woodstock's Farm Market.
