The Giving Trees Summer Update

- Plus Acorn Harvest Deets!!!

PXL_20260731_234645490.jpg

Sage's Hot Take

A good summertime thunderstorm breaks the heat & washes the air.

A bad one flattens a small town (sorry Tilson) while electrifying the sky.

A lot of trees came down in those storms this summer.

Its time to plant new ones -

maybe shorter ones...

a little further from the house this time.

The summer is a confusing time for a squirrel...

Somehow we figured out what to do.

We kept cool with an Acorn Ice Cream Social or two!

We are so pleased to have taught all about turning Acorns into delicious foods with our friends JD and Charlene (The Grey Wolf Spririt team)

Mark taught Acorn games and Black Walnut Tie Dye at Wild Earth's summer camp & we introduced our friend Eliza to Acorn Processing -  who taught at Camp Eden this summer in Putnam Valley.

Word around the tree is there are lots of chipmunks (campers) getting excited to do some harvesting and planting this fall!

Best of all - we got to hang out with all of our friends and grow our community!

Sage spotted the Dragon Tree

It is almost FALL... I am starting to dream about Acorns !

Calling all squirrels, chipmunks, turkeys, deer, bear, woodpeckers, bluejays, weevils, wood ducks, field mice, beavers, skunk, snapping turtles, & humans.

Come one, Come All to an Acorn Harvest Day with Sage & Mark this Fall.

We will celebrate the mighty Oaks while sitting on piles of leaves beneath their outstretched arms... and picking up acorns together.

This Fall we are organizing 3 different ways to Join the fall harvest.

PLEASE RSVP, because locations & times are subject to change

1. Acorn Parties!!! (will include Acorn Ice Cream)   All are Welcome to come Harvest & Learn!

Let's also support these great local businesses that have kept stands of beautiful Oaks thriving on their properties.  All acorns we harvest at these events will be used for teaching!!!

  • SUN October 4 - 12-4, @ Mercier Farm Stand, 210 NY-32 South, New Paltz, NY 12561

  • SUN October 18 - 12-4, @ Jolly Cow, 1620 US-9W, Lake Katrine, NY 12449

2. Harvest Days

On these days we will be running around finding acorns in new spots, following leads, wild goosechases, and having a blast! We can carpool and sometimes go pretty far to find the best spots!

You are totally welcome to keep the acorns you harvest too.

  • October 8, 15-16, 22-23, maybe more dates too.

3. Do you know a spot?

If your property or local park is covered in Acorn, Walnut, Hickory, Apple, Pear, or Grape - please let us know. We would love to expand our harvest and share the foods.
